The Heilig Funeral Home has provided caring compassionate service
to Mount Joy residents since first opening in November of 1949.
James Heilig and wife Dorothy Moedinger Heilig started their new
business at 23 West Main Street shortly after Jim graduated from
Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Twelve days after opening,
the Heilig Funeral Home conducted its first funeral.

After ten years, the business had grown so much that expansion
was necessary. An addition to the building doubled the size of the
original area and the new home officially opened at 21 West Main
Street in October 1964. Through the sixties the business continued
to flourish, with Dotty working by Jim's side.
|
|
Today, Jim continues to participate in the business, assisting
with funerals and providing personal service to families in the
community.
Together Jim and Dotty Heilig built their business from an unknown
to what is now a well established source of comfort and support
in the Mount Joy Community.
